The records of the Office of Special Events date from 1947 to 2002. The records consist of correspondence and planning materials, as well as publicity information for the sponsored or coordinated events.

This item is a Baltimore City Police Academy Handbook, created in approximately 1957. The handbook consists of a binder containing documentation of various departmental procedures, and was most likely owned by Officer Willie McCray, whose name is written on the cover. There is currently no biographical information available on Willie McCray.

Padraic Colum (1881-1972) was an Irish poet and playwright. Collection consists of one postcard (dated 1961) from Padraic Colum to Mabel Whiteley of Baltimore.

The Phoebe B. Stanton papers contain various publications, photographs, notes, and correspondence related to Stanton’s research on architecture. Research topics include architects such as Edmund G. Lind and the architecture of Episcopal churches and the city of Baltimore.

Ralph G. Murdy was a deputy police commissioner with the Baltimore City Police Department in the 1970s. The collection consists of pamphlets, documents, committee minutes, correspondence, reports, and notes mostly related to the process of criminal justice in the city of Baltimore dating from 1878-1972, with the bulk of the material dating from 1960-1972.

This item is a remembrance book created in memory of R. Champlin "Champ" Sheridan, 1952 alumnus of Johns Hopkins University and benefactor of the university's Sheridan Libraries.

The collection consists of one notebook containing newspaper clippings and comments describing the trial of Michael Rock who was tried for the alleged rape of Elizabeth Black, August 13, 1852. The week long trial was conducted in the criminal court of Baltimore City in November 1852. The clippings include testimony of all witnesses including those who were called by defense to give opinions of Elizabeth Black's character.

Samson Feldman (circa 1901-1983) began submitting political cartoons to The Baltimore Sun after graduating from Baltimore City College. This collection contains 33 printed cartoons that were published in The Evening Sun editions of The Baltimore Sun from 1917 to 1918. The collection also includes one photograph of Feldman from circa 1966. This collection does not include original art work.

Dr. Samuel H. Bryant, of Baltimore, Maryland, was born on March 25, 1905. This collection consists of about 350 letters written by Dr. Samuel H. Bryant of Baltimore, Maryland, to his wife, Edna C., between May 14, 1941 and November 15, 1944. Most of the letters were sent from undisclosed locations in the South Pacific (around the islands of Fiji).

The collection consists of letters from out-of-town guests as well as Baltimoreans regarding attendance at the sesquicentennial celebration.

Sidney Clopton Lanier (1842-1881) was an American musician, poet and author. The collection spans the years 1838 to 1998, with the bulk dating from 1838 to 1972. The material consists of correspondence, prose, poetry, lecture and music manuscripts, photographs, memorial information, and newspaper clippings.

Thomas F. Flannery was born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania in 1919. In 1957, he moved to Baltimore and became the first editorial cartoonist for The Evening Sun in 1957. Topics include: Baltimore and Maryland, sports and personages, national issues and world affairs in the late 1950s through the 1960s, including the Kennedy presidency, the war in Vietnam, and the Cold War.

Victoria Lincoln was an American writer of fiction and journalistic articles born in 1904. The papers consist largely of drafts of her many articles, stories, poems, and novels. The collection spans 1833-1986, with the bulk of the material from 1925-1985.

W. Calvin Chesnut was a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University, 1892. He was an attorney in Baltimore. This collection consists of one article describing the National Democratic Convention held in Baltimore in 1912.

Dr. Warren S. Torgerson was internationally known for his work in psychological measurement at Johns Hopkins University. The files include primarily experiment notes and data sets, some lecture notes, and some correspondence, dating from 1962 through 1983.

Wilbert E. "Bill" Locklin served as Vice President and Assistant (?) to President Milton Eisenhower. This colleciton includes correspondence and reports reflecting university business, 1965-1976, including copies of letters sent to President Milton S. Eisenhower and two handbooks: "An Experimental Approach to English" and "The Undergraduate at Johns Hopkins."
