Frank N. (Francis Nelson) Pilling was born in Baltimore, October 17, 1908. The papers consist largely of his personal writings, some in typescript and some in published form. Raymond Dexter Havens, educator and author, was born in Rochester, New York in 1880. In 1925, he joined The Johns Hopkins University faculty as Caroline Donovan Professor of English, a post he held until his retirement in 1949. In 1931, Havens was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.The collections consists of correspondence; reprints, articles, and clippings; outlines, course note, study guides, and bibliographies; an autograph album contains holographic messages...

This collection consists of one leatherbound scrapbook consisting of approximately 104 photographs, and related ephemera, kept by the Navy sailor Thomas E. Baker of the Baltimore-commissioned ship the U.S.S. Pentheus. The materials date between 1939 and 1945.

Abstract
Edward "Ted" Athelstan Marshall was born Edward Howard Marshall on May 8, 1920 in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Johns Hopkins University from 1939 to 1943, where he majored in English Literature. Upon commencement, Marshall joined the U.S. Army infantry the same year. He was killed in combat in Europe on November 10, 1944.
