The present collection is a visual account of the tumultuous period known in Italy as the "anni di piombo" (Years of Lead), from the 1960s to 1980s. These black-and-white press photographs document workers' strikes, riots, student demonstrations, and protest marches in Italy, principally Rome, Milan, Turin, and Naples. The collection spans 1969 to 1982.

Scope and Contents The collection is formed by one unpublished, holographic letter of the English jurist, Jeremy Bentham, to Sir Samuel Romilly (1757-1818) dated June 15, 1807. The letter was written during a period when Bentham was concerned with the reform of the Scottish courts and had written a pamphlet, "Scotch Reform...In a Series of Letters to the Right Honorable Lord Grenville."
