Abstract Estelle Anna Blanche Robinson Lewis (1824-1880) was an American poet and dramatist. Lewis was born near Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of John Robinson, a wealthy planter from Cuba of English and Spanish descent. Her best dramatic work was Sappho of Lesbos, a tragedy (London, 1868). She permanently moved to England in 1865, where her last work was a series of sonnets in defence of Edgar Allan Poe. This small collection contains photographs, a calling card, and letters relating to American novelist John Dos Passos (1896-1970). Included in the collection is a letter from Dos Passos to Spanish academic José Robles regarding Robles' translation of Dos Passos' novel Manhattan Transfer into Spanish. Stephen Crane (1871-1900) was an American novelist, poet, and short story writer, who in 1895 wrote "The Red Badge of Courage", which earned him international acclaim. This collection of materials relating to Crane, compiled by Johns Hopkins University alumnus Richard Frary, includes letters (many by Crane), events ephemera, photographs, articles of literary criticism, and sheet music (inspired by his fiction).
