Overview
A.D. Emmart was a journalist at The Baltimore Sun newspaper in Baltimore, Maryland from 1924 to 1972. Included in the collection is a scrapbook containing his editorial writings from 1927 to 1934, book reviews and art criticisms from 1928 to 1960, and many articles from his assignments in Russia from 1928 to 1933, and London in the 1940s.

"Authors' Book" scrapbook

Overview
The scrapbook titled “Authors’ Book” is a cloth notebook containing 166 clippings of author portraits across eighty-three pages. Next to each portrait is a list of works, handwritten in pen or pencil. The creator of the scrapbook is unknown, but the contents suggest it was compiled primarily in the late nineteenth century and into the early twentieth century.

Basil Toutorsky papers

Overview
Basil Toutorsky (1896-1989), a Russian pianist and composer, taught music in Washington, D.C., for over 50 years. Born into nobility in Russia, Toutorsky fought for the White Russian forces in World War I and fled to the United States in the 1920s. He established the Toutorsky Academy of Music in Washington, where he gave private lessons and composed music from 1937 until his death in 1989. His collection includes personal papers and photographs relating to his life and career.

C. Morton Stewart papers

C. (Charles) Morton Stewart (1829-1900) was a prominent businessman in Baltimore, Maryland, as well as President of the Board of Trustees at Johns Hopkins University. These papers include several speeches by Stewart and a scrapbook of condolences sent to the family of Stewart after his death in 1900. The collection spans circa 1890 to 1900.
