Abstract Edward "Ted" Athelstan Marshall was born Edward Howard Marshall on May 8, 1920 in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Johns Hopkins University from 1939 to 1943, where he majored in English Literature. Upon commencement, Marshall joined the U.S. Army infantry the same year. Roseanne Traxler Klass was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
