Kirby Flower Smith papers

Overview Kirby Flower Smith (1862-1918) was professor of Latin at Johns Hopkins University from 1889 until his death in 1918, and published several books on the Roman elegiac poets. The collection consists of reprints, typed transcripts, and thirty notebooks of notes for lectures and articles dating from 1892-1916.

The Richard Benda papers contain manuscript notebooks and transcriptions of his teaching material concerned with the Schillinger system. Also included are pedagogical materials in the form of notes, recordings, and an unpublished supplement to the Schillinger system.
