Abstract
Douglas Huntly Gordon, Jr. was born in Baltimore in 1903. During the 1930s, he served in the Maryland legislature. In 1938, he founded the Mount Vernon Improvement Association and spent much of the rest of his life fighting to retain the original architectural integrity of Baltimore's Mount Vernon Place. Abstract
Harry S. Dickey was a Baltimore business man and collector, who was born in 1891 and received his B.A. degree from The Johns Hopkins University in 1912. Dickey an admirer of the English poet, Lord Byron. This collection is composed of handwritten letters and poems relating to Byron, as well as published or printed sheet music, engravings, and article clippings. Abstract
The formation of the Tudor and Stuart Club was initiated by Sir William Osler and his wife, Lady Grace Osler. Their intention to provide an endowment for these activities was expressed in a letter to Johns Hopkins University President Frank J. Goodnow, dated October 30, 1918.
