Professor Larzer Ziff became the Caroline Donovan Professor of English at Johns Hopkins University in 1981. He served as chair of the Department of English from 1991 to 1995. Leonard Leopold Mackall, American bibliographer, editor and collector was born in Baltimore on January 29, 1879. There is additional information dating from 1949 regarding the collection after it was acquired by Johns Hopkins Libraries.

Abstract Edward "Ted" Athelstan Marshall was born Edward Howard Marshall on May 8, 1920 in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Johns Hopkins University from 1939 to 1943, where he majored in English Literature. Upon commencement, Marshall joined the U.S. Army infantry the same year.
