Overview
Anthony Hecht (1923-2004), one of the leading poets of his generation, is most well-known for his anthology The Hard Hours (1967), generally seen as his break-through volume. Hecht's small holding of papers, separated from his donated book collection, includes handwritten and typewritten correspondence, as well as clippings, programs, and other forms of ephemera. The materials range from 1982 to 2005, the later years of Hecht's literary career.

Elisabeth Gilman was born in New Haven, Connecticut, December 25, 1867. She was the younger daughter of Daniel Coit and Mary (Ketcham) Gilman. Dwight David Eisenhower was born in Denison, Texas in 1890 and died in 1969. he was the 34th President of the United States. The collection, 1948-1979, consists of nearly 180 holographic letters written by Dwight D. Eisenhower and recieved by his personal friends, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Slater, from November 1948 until March 1969. Letters and other materials from Mamie Eisenhower to the Slaters number 114 items and date from October 1950 to November 1979.
