Amy Evans papers
Born in 1884 in Wales, Amy Evans was an operatic soprano who performed in Britain and the United States in the early 20th century. The Amy Evans papers contain personal documents, correspondence, greeting cards, address books, and photographs from Evans and her husband, baritone Fraser Gange.
Chris Lobingier papers
Christopher Lobingier (1944-2014) was a composer based in Baltimore who wrote the original score to the 1977 John Waters film Desperate Living and participated in the Baltimore Composers Forum. This collection contains scores of original compositions by Chris Lobingier, including his score to Desperate Living, as well as materials related to the Baltimore Composers Forum, recordings, and other ephemera.
George R. Woodhead papers
The George R. Woodhead papers contain personal papers and concert programs acquired over his career as a choral conductor and professor of music at Goucher College and other musical institutions in the Baltimore area. The documents include correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, teaching material, and financial documents. The majority of the concert programs come from performances by local churches, Johns Hopkins University, Goucher College, and the Bach Society of Baltimore.
Howard R. Thatcher papers
Howard Thatcher was a pianist, organist, composer, and teacher in the Baltimore area. He was an alumnus of Peabody who taught harmony, counterpoint, orchestration, and composition for the Peabody Conservatory. The Howard R. Jean Eichelberger Ivey (1923-2010) was a composer, pianist, electronic musician, professor, and the founder of the Peabody Conservatory Electronic Music Studio, which she directed from 1969 until her retirement from Peabody in 1997. Reginald Stewart papers
Reginald Stewart was a Scottish-born conductor and pianist who served as direcctor of the Peabody Institute from 1941 to 1959 and music director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra from 1942 to 1952. His papers include scrapbooks, correspondence, photographs, and recordings related to his career.
The Roseanne Klass collection on Afghanistan and the Soviet-Afghan War
Roseanne Traxler Klass was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. From 1980 to 1991 Klass founded and headed the Afghanistan Information Center at Freedom House in New York, NY.The papers document the various aid groups and human rights organizations involved in the Afghanistan war from the 1970s to the late 1990s. Support groups include the Afghanistan Relief Committee, Free Afghanistan, and Medicines san Frontieres.
Theater Chamber Players records
The Theater Chamber Players, founded by Peabody Institute faculty members Dina Koston and Leon Fleisher, were a chamber music ensemble that featured 20th-century music and was based primarily in Washington, D.C., from 1968 to 2003. The TCP records include administrative and business documents, correspondence, working files, concert programs, publicity material, photographs, recordings, scores, and reference material.
