Abstract

Cousins Adam Itzel Jr. and John Itzel were conductors, arrangers, composers, and educators who studied and taught at the Peabody Conservatory in the late 19th century. The collection includes manuscript scores of light orchestral or operatic music arranged primarily by Adam Itzel Jr., as well as manuscript scores of some of his original compositions.

It is addressed to Milward Adams who was manager of the Chicago Auditorium at that time. Edwin Litchfield Turnbull (1872-1927) was a musician who helped create both the Johns Hopkins University and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Ronald Roxbury music manuscripts

Abstract Ronald Roxbury (1946-1986) was a composer, singer, flutist, and pianist. He was born on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and grew up as an African American during an era of segregation. He studied composition at the Peabody Conservatory with Stefans Grové and Earle Brown, earning a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in 1969.
