The manuscript in this collection is an incomplete, holograph copy of the constitution which was adopted by The Iron and Steel Roll Hands Union and The Associated Brotherhood of Iron and Steel Heaters, Rollers and Roughers. It was adopted at their joint meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana, August 3, 1875 but its usefulness was short-lived as the union the following year merged and became The Amalgamated Association of Iron and Steel Workers. Abstract
Papers produced and collected by the Keyser family of Baltimore, Maryland. The Keysers accumulated wealth in the 19th and 20th centuries through mercantile businesses, inheritance, and a variety of industries, including the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, copper and iron works, and investments in land and real estate. They used some of this wealth to finance Baltimore’s public and private institutions, including Johns Hopkins University.
