The copies were produced in the 1930s, and the location of the originals is described in the Provenance. Collection of English philosopher and economist, John Stuart Mill, consists of over 300 holographic letters written to him by noted economists, philosophers, theologians, and political figures of the nineteenth century. Drafts of Mill's replies are included along with 43 holographic letters written by Mill to Auguste Comte, 1841-1847. Most of the correspondence is published.

The collection consists of one bound handwritten manuscript written in 1616. The author is unknown. There is a dedication "from a poor country man" to Sir Thomas Bromley, possibly the English judge (1530-1587) who presided over the trial (1586) of Mary, Queen of Scots.
