Charles Howard Carter diplomatic history collection
Charles Howard Carter was born in Baker, Oregon on April 3, 1927. He was Professor of History at Tulane University and a noted specialist on Spanish and European diplomacy in the sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries.

Elizabeth Daum diary
This collection consists of the diary of Elizabeth Daum, which provides an account of Miss Daum's trip to Europe by ocean liner, July to October, 1926. Elizabeth Daum resided in Scranton, PA in 1926. Her travel diary indicates she was an unmarried, young adult who made a trans-Atlantic crossing to Europe in 1926. Other biographical information of Miss Daum has not been found.
Feudal document
This collection consists of a vellum manuscript written in German and signed in 1369. A second item in the collection is a wax seal most likely used to officially close the document.
George C. Keidel papers
George Charles Keidel (1868-1942) was associate professor of Romance Languages at Johns Hopkins University and was later a librarian at the Library of Congress. The collection spans the years 1899-1935 and consists largely of Prefessor Keidel's lectures and writings on romance paleography. Some material is in French.
Harry Fielding Reid papers
Harry Fielding Reid was professor of geology at Johns Hopkins University and a geologist known for his contributions in the fields of seismology and glaciology. The collection consists of a small group of his professional writings and correspondence, personal items, reprints, and a large selection of photographs and negatives spanning 1894-1944.
Johns Hopkins University Billie Holiday collection
The Johns Hopkins University Billie Holiday collection is an artificially assembled collection with manuscript material chosen by the curators of Special Collections, dating from approximately 1949 to 1993. The collection features eight items related to the life, career, and death of jazz singer Billie Holiday, 1915-1959. Holiday, or "Lady Day," was known for her disctinct vocal delivery and had a profound influence on jazz and blues music.
Madge Preston papers
Collection consists of two bound holographic volumes of Baltimore resident, Madge Preston (1815-1895). In the first volume (1868) Mrs. Preston copied letters sent to family and friends during a trip to Europe in 1868 in which she described the sea voyage, visits to German cities, and various social activities. Most of the letters are addressed to her husband, William P. Preston. The second volume (1885) is a record of letters sent and received and a daily ledger of weather and activities.
Marie Dujardin memoir
The collection consists of one volume of short sketches of various people, mostly French, written by Marie Dujardin, the widow of French journalist and writer, Edouard Dujardin. It concerns individuals associated with the Belle Époque.
Mendes I. Cohen itinerary
Mendes I. Cohen (1796-1879) was a Baltimore-based veteran of the War of 1812, banker, world traveler, and a member of the Maryland Legislature. This collection consists of a bound hand-written manuscript titled, "Diary of Six Years' Travels in Europe, Egypt, Nubia, Arabia, and the Holy Land from 1829 to 1835."
