James D. McCabe papers
James D. McCabe, Jr. (1842-1883) was a popular writer of more than 30 works including histories, biographies, and plays. The collection consists of letterbooks, unpublished manuscripts, and photographs dating from 1862 to 1881.
James R. Randall letter to Charles F. Gunther and poem My Maryland!
James Ryder Randall (1839-1908) was a native of Maryland and penned the poem, Maryland, My Maryland!
which was adopted as the state song in 1939. The collection includes autograph transcriptions of a letter to Charles F. Gunther of Chicago and the accompanying aforementioned poem.
Ladies State Sanitary Fair register
Collection consists of one bound volume that served as a register for visitors to the Ladies' State Sanitary Fair held at the Maryland Institute in Baltimore, April 1864. Notable signatures include Abraham Lincoln; Mary Todd Lincoln; Treasury Secretary, Salmon P. Chase; Secretary of State, William Henry Seward; Maryland Governor, Augustus W. Bradford; and Major General Robert C. Schenck.

Louisa Hoffman diary
Louisa Hoffman, daughter of Amuel Owings Hoffman and Louisa A. Gilmore, was born in Baltimore about 1831 and died on 4 January 1884. The collection consists of a Civil War diary of Louisa Hoffman, of Baltimore, Maryland, dated 1860-1862.
Lucy Rebecca Buck diary
This collection consists of a copy of a diary (1861-1865) of Lucy Rebecca Buck written during the American Civil War. In 1973, the diary was published under the title of Sad Earth, Sweet Heaven. Lucy Rebecca Buck was born in 1842 and resided near Front Royal, Virginia.
Merryman-Crane family papers
The Merryman-Crane family papers document the nineteenth century life of two allied families, one centered in Richmond, Virginia, and the other in Baltimore County, Maryland. The Merryman family papers consist of land deeds, legal documents, and correspondence spanning 1742-1908 The Crane Family papers consist of correspondence, poetry, prose, and financial documents. The material spans 1821-1908 but mainly dates from 1850-1890.
Moncure-Lyne Family scrapbooks
The collection (1897-1943) consists of three scrapbooks, the subjects of which are the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln and Edgar Allan Poe. The scrapbooks were compiled by Miss Cassandra Moncure Lyne (born 1875) in collaboration with her mother, Mrs. Cassandra Moncure Lyne (1845-1934).
Mrs. Lawson poem
The collection consists of a poem, "Maryland," written by a Mrs. Lawson, most likely during the Civil War. The poem was intended as a satirical response to the pro-Southern lyrics of "Maryland, My Maryland," written by James R. Randall.
P. G. T. Beauregard letter
G.T. Beauregard (1818 – 1893) was a Confederate general during the American Civil War. Collection consists of one letter, dated November 5, 1873, written to Maryland historian J. Thomas Scharf. Beauregard describes the participation of Maryland troops in the battle of Manassas (also known as the Battle of the 1st Bull Run).
