Phyllis Bryn-Julson papers

Abstract

Soprano Phyllis Bryn-Julson taught at the Peabody Conservatory from 1984 to 2017 and is recognized as one of the most authoritative interpreters of vocal music of the 20th century. Her collection contains manuscript and facsimile scores by several notable composers with whom she worked, including Milton Babbitt, Pierre Boulez, Heinz Holliger, and David Del Tredici, as well as correspondence, programs, clippings, photographs, and other documents related to her career.

Theodor and Emma Hemberger scores

Abstract

Theodor (Theodore) Hemberger was a German-born violinist, conductor, and composer who directed the Germania Männerchor and performed with H.L. Mencken in the Saturday Night Club. His wife, Emma Conrad Hemberger, was a singer and the composer of the anthem "Baltimore, Our Baltimore." The collection consists primarily of manuscript scores of Theodor's original works and arrangements for orchestra, voice, and chamber ensemble. Also included are manuscripts of Emma's music.

Theodor von Muncker collection on the Bayreuth Festspielhaus

The collection contains chiefly printed material from 1872 to 1889 gathered by Theodor von Muncker, mayor of the Bavarian town of Bayreuth during the period of the construction and opening of the Festspielhaus theater designed for Richard Wagner. Documents in the collection are related to the administration and programming of the Festspielhaus and the Richard Wagner-Verein.

Vladimir Padwa papers

Abstract Born in czarist Russia, composer and pianist Vladimir Padwa immigrated to the United States in 1932 and was heard regularly in concert halls, on radio, and in recordings for RCA Victor. He co-founded the First Piano Quartet and taught at the New York College of Music.
