Albert Lanphier Hammond papers

Scope and Contents Collection consists of a series of lectures presented by Professor Albert Lanphier Hammond at Hopkins during the spring semester, 1961. The subject of Hammond's lectures was the Theory of Knowledge. The lectures have been transcribed from tape and are available in the typescript. The original tape is included in the collection, but two of the twelve lectures are not available in typescript.

Charles S. Peirce papers

Scope and Contents Collection consists of one bound holographic notebook of philosopher and mathematician, Charles S. Peirce. The notebook contains a catalog of books on logic and scholastic philosophy from Peice's personal library. Peirce also noted the estimated value of each title. Most likely, Peirce compiled the notebook, 1880-1881, at a time when he hoped to find a buyer for his library. Most of the books were acquired by the Johns Hopkins University in 1881.

These records primarily include files of real estate purchases, renovations, reports, and letters, while another bulk of the records includes the files of the creation of the Shriver Hall Murals. The records range from 1937 to 1971.

Johns Hopkins University Josiah Royce collection

Overview Josiah Royce (November 20, 1855 – September 14, 1916) was an American objective idealist philosopher. The Royce Collection spans the years from 1878 to 1916 and includes correspondence with members of the George B. Coale family (chiefly Mr. Coale, 1878 - 1887), his unpublished Hopkins dissertation, several manuscript compositions, photographs and lecture notes by a student in one of Royce's philosophy classes at Harvard.

Victor Lowe papers

Overview Victor Lowe (born 1907) was a professor of philosophy at The Johns Hopkins University, and the biographer of mathematician and philosopher, Alfred North Whitehead. This collection of papers largely relates to Lowe's research into the life of Whitehead and consists mainly of research notes, correspondence, and articles about Whitehead collected by Lowe. Included also are some personal papers which Lowe re-filed with these research files.
