He is regarded as one of the key figures of 19th-century literary realism. This collection consists primarily of 22 letters written by Henry James, Jr. to friends and acquaintances, and the corrected typescript of Max Beerbohm’s short story “The Guerdon,” a 1916 parody of James’ late writing style.
