The collection consists of an unbound scrapbook containing 17 pages of newspaper clippings from The Baltimore Gazette and The Baltimore Republican, dating from August 28, 1835 to October 15, 1835. They give an account of the trial of the Bank of Maryland against Thomas Ellicott.

The collection consists of a report titled, "The Relief Department of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company," prepared for the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. The report was written by Johns Hopkins economist, George Ernest Barnett, and is dated August 31,1916.

The notebook (1865-1885) which forms this collection is a bound, holographic volume containing unpublished poetry and prose of William Benson, Jr. Biographical information of William Benson, Jr. has not been found. It is likely that Benson was a physician residing in Baltimore, Maryland.

This collection consists of a copy of a diary (1861-1865) of Lucy Rebecca Buck written during the American Civil War. In 1973, the diary was published under the title of Sad Earth, Sweet Heaven. Lucy Rebecca Buck was born in 1842 and resided near Front Royal, Virginia.
