This collections includes course schedules, rosters, photocopies of course readings, programs, correspondence, and other material related to the Alumni College. The letters are primarily addressed to Wayne Anderson, who was an administrator to the program. Particularly, the holding contains papers from the 1973 and 1974 college sessions, in Washington, DC, and Chatham, Massachusetts, respectively. The collection overall spans from 1970 to 1974.

Biographical / Historical

The Alumni College was established by the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Association in approximately 1973, to provide alumni with travel learning opportunities, better known as "education vacations." Much like alumni travel programs offered at other colleges, lecturers are recruited from the respective institutions to teach on these trips. The earliest courses were initially taught by Hopkins professors at St. Mary's College of Maryland, but subsequent sessions featured travel to interesting destinations.
