School of Advanced International Studies, Office of Admissions records

 Record Group
Identifier: RG-07-220

Scope and Contents

This record Group consists of documents generated by the Office of Admissions of the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). The bulk of the records date from 1969 to 1981, although a few records are included from as early as 1961. The Admissions Office is and was a department of the SAIS Office for Student Affairs, and is under the supervision of the SAIS Associate Dean for Student Affairs. The Admissions records included in this record date largely from the tenures of two SAIS Associate Deans, Lester Janka (1969-1971) and Roger Leeds (1971-1976). Under these two men, the Office for Student Affairs was called the Office for Admissions and Career Information. Other records generated by the Office for Student Affairs will be found under Record Group Number 07.030.

This record group contains statistics on applications, admissions and enrollments, with special attention to minority and female students. In addition, there are files on student recruitment and reform proposals for Admissions.
