Scope and Contents

The records of the Curriculum Committee consist of minutes of meetings, arranged in chronological order, covering the periods February-December, 1934; May-June, 1938; and January 1942. The president appointed the Curriculum Committee to assist the Board of Engineering Studies. J. T. Thompson served as secretary; other members were: Alexander Graham Christie, William B. Kouwenhoven, Joseph C. W. Frazer, Wilbert J. Huff, and Paul H. Emmett.

History

In an April 1948 statement of the Board of Engineering Studies, the duties of the Curriculum Committee are stated as: "to review the curriculum of the various departments and report changes to this Board, and to recommend to the Advisory Board and to the Board of Engineering Studies." The committee decided what course requirements each major field of study would have, and granted permission for students to omit certain required courses in individual cases.
