Biographical / Historical

Maurice Bessman received his bachelors degree from Harvard University and his Ph.D from Tufts University. He pursued postdoctoral work at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri before coming to Johns Hopkins University, where he became a professor of biochemistry and enzymology in the Department of Biology.

Maurice Bessman is an emeritus professor of biochemistry and enzymology in the Department of Biology at Johns Hopkins University. This collection consists of workbooks, lecture notes, slides, transparencies, research notes, manuscripts, exams, conference papers and journal articles, photographs, and correspondence. These materials span 1956 to 2007.

The collection is arranged in 4 series: Research, Teaching, Writings, and Correspondence and Photographs. Folders were organized in chronological order in each series.
