Biographical Note
This certificate from 1871 reflects Puerto Rico's slave trade from Africa. Two years later, slavery would be abolished in Puerto Rico.

Slave Registration Certificate. Guayamo: 24 March 1871. A small printed form completed by hand. Issued to Jacinto Texidor for his slave, Valentin, 51 years of age, born in Africa. Signed by three officials and certified with a revenue stamp.
