This is an artificially assembled collection with manuscript material chosen by the curators of Special Collections, related to or created by Maurice Sand. Materials primarily include handwritten playscripts, his handdrawn or handpainted posters of George Sand plays, some story fragments and scenarios, as well as a stereocard.

Biographical Note
Jean-Franois-Maurice-Arnauld, Baron Dudevant, better known as Maurice Sand (1823-1889 in Nohant-Vic), was a French illustrator, writer, and playwright. Maurice Sand also experimented in various other subjects, including painting, geology, and biology. He was the son of Baron Casimir Dudevant and his wife, French novelist, feminist, and a noted playwright as well, George Sand.
Maurice Sand studied under Eugne Delacroix. In addition to his numerous novels, Sand is best remembered for his monumental study of commedia dell'arte: Masques et bouffons (comédie italienne) (1860).
