Scope and Contents

The collection consists of over 500 World War II letters dating from 1942-1943 written by and to United States Army officer W.T. Brundige, a 1940s graduate of Johns Hopkins University. The collection also includes some university manuscript material including W.T. Brundige's "blue book" exams, newspapers, and news clippings. A personal scrapbook kept by Mamie charts her courtship with Winston during 1942 and 1943. The scrapbook mentions the courtship and marriage of Worthington, W.T.'s twin, to Marianne von Marees.

Biographical Note

Winston Trueheart Brundige graduated from Baltimore City College in February 1938. He studied political science at Johns Hopkins, graduating in 1942. While at Hopkins, Brundige participated in the ROTC program. In the 1980 Hopkins Alumni Directory Brundige is listed as a partner in Weinberg and Green, Baltimore. In 1996, Brundige and his wife, Mamie N., established a scholarship to support Krieger School students. Between 2000 and 2001 they made financial contributions to the Medical Alumni Association. As of 2005 Brundige was a member of the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service.
