H. Morris Whitehurst papers
Scope and Contents
The collection consists primarily of items documenting the Whitehurst's travels and interests. Included are one scrapbook (disbound) of horse racing and a hunt, photographs, a family scrapbook from the 1940's-1950's, drafts of wills, and various correspondences. The collection also includes newspaper articles and notes relating to the Junior group of the Women's Association Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, of which Mrs. Whitehurst was the president.

Biographical Note
Herbert Morris Whitehurst was born in Baltimore on August 4, 1909. He received his LLB (Bachelor of Laws) from the University of Baltimore in 1932. Whitehurst then attended the Johns Hopkins University as both an undergraduate and a graduate student in 1936 and 1934, respectively.
H. Morris and Olga L. Whitehurst owned and operated Whitehurst Imports, specializing in Christmas tree ornaments. Even though the Whitehurst's resided in Baltimore, their business was located on Lomax St. in Easton, MD. H. Morris Whitehurst is of no relation to Mr. and Mrs. John L. Whitehurst, also of Baltimore, Md.
The Olga L. and H. Morris Whitehurst Fellowship (at Hopkins) was established in 1989 by the estate of Mr. Whitehurst, A&S 1936, in memory of himself and his wife, to support fellows in the Department of Neurology.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The papers were left in the former Whitehurst home and donated by a later owner, Ray Adler, in 2006. (Accession 06-07.04)
