Neil A. Grauer Blue Jay collection
Scope and Contents
The collection of Neil A. Grauer consists of memorabilia ranging in date from 1966 to 2016 the features the Blue Jay logo designed by Grauer for the use of athletic teams at The Johns Hopkins University. The Blue Jay is a cartoon character first drawn by Grauer while he was a student at Hopkins, 1965-1969. Included in the collection are T-shirts, posters, cups, an umbrella, a tie tack, all printed with the Blue Jay logo. Included also are Grauer's original drawings and photocopies of drawings created specifically for games with rival Lacrosse teams including Princeton, Cornell, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Virginia, Harvard, and others (1970s-1990s).

Neil Albert Grauer (born 1947) was a journalist and editorial cartoonist. Grauer received his B.A. from the Johns Hopkins University in 1969 and a masters degree in journalism from Northwestern University in 1970.
Grauer was a reporter and cartoonist for the Baltimore News-American from 1970 until 1980. He then became the public affairs officer in the Consumer Protection Division of the Maryland Attorney General's Office. In 1984 he published his Wits & Sages which profiles twelve contemporary newspaper columnists. In 1988 his Drugs & the Law appeared as part of the Encyclopedia of Psychoactive Drugs. His published works include Baltimore, Jewel of the Chesapeake (1990) and Remember Laughter: A Life of James Thurber (1994).
