The Yvonne Ferrand-Weyher poetry chapbooks and autograph letter, 1939-1949, contain a set of eight chapbooks and one letter written in French by Yvonne Ferrand-Weyher. Each chapbook was hand-written and hand-illustrated by Ferrand-Weyher and contains published and unpublished poems about her experiences during World War II and the occupation and liberation of Paris, France. The chapbooks are divided into three series reflecting the seasons, the occupation/liberation, and day/night, with associated dates reflecting notes on individual poems:

Hiver (1945, 1948)

Printemps (1942)

Ete (1941, 1943)

Automne (1939, 1940, 1947, 1948)

A la Porte de Marbre et Construction, poèmes composés durant l’occupation Paris (1943)

Versailles (1935, 1945)

La Mer Ensoleillée (1947, 1948)

La Nuit (1943, 1948)

The letter is addressed to an unnamed friend in approximately 1949. It describes the chapbooks and Ferrand-Weyher's reasons for gifting them.

Biographical / Historical

Yvonne Ferrand-Wyher was born in 1873 in France. She served as a nurse during World War I, after which she wrote multiple personal poetry books as well as poem translations during the interwar period, 1918-1939. She died in 1963.
