This item is a flip book, also known as a folioscope, containing one hundred and thirty-eight gelatin silver prints measuring 4 x 5 cm, created in Paris in the early 1900s. The scene depicts a bride and groom as their car pulls up amid a throng of onlookers. The couple’s identity is unknown, but the size of the crowd implies that they may have been celebrities, or the party was conspicuous enough to attract the public’s attention. Towards the end of the scene, the reflection of a figure appears in the windshield of the approaching car. The vantage-point of the filming and the stance of the figure suggest this might be the camera-person. The prints are contained in the original beige printed covers with two metal rings punched in the margins. The back cover notes the details of the publisher: “Kinopocket No… Opéra Corner, 38 Ave de l'Opéra Corner, Paris, Tel: Gut: 10-32”, while the front cover reads “Kinopocket. Patented The World Over. Creation Exclusive D. Innovation.” The flip book is contained within the original brown paper‐covered slipcase with a printed paper label, which notes the same information as the front cover.
