Scope and Contents
Collection consists of a series of lectures presented by Professor Albert Lanphier Hammond at Hopkins during the spring semester, 1961. The subject of Hammond's lectures was the Theory of Knowledge. The lectures have been transcribed from tape and are available in the typescript. The original tape is included in the collection, but two of the twelve lectures are not available in typescript.

Biographical Note
Albert Lanphier Hamond was an associate professor in Philosophy and alumnus, The Johns Hopkins University. Born in Baltimore, MD September 25, 1982, Hammond recieved the B.A. degree from Hopkins in 1914 and the Ph.D. in 1924. His career included being a copy writer for the Baltimore "Sun" and a mebmer of the faculty in Philosophy at Hopkins. Hammond was also a devotee of horse racing and wrote articles on racing for "Sports Illustrated". He was the author of "Properties and Vageries" (1961) and "Ideas about Substance" (1969). Albert Lanphier Hammond died in Baltimore June 7, 1970.
