The headline of the broadside declares the exhibition of: "Pictures, Statues, Basso Relievos, and Engraved Stones, of the Gallery of Florence, and the Pitti Palace, Engraved under the Direction of Mr. Lacombe, Painter, from the Drawings of Mr. Wicar; a Work dedicated To His Royal Highness the Grand Duke of Tuscany."

A broadside advertisement and form of subscription for a projected London issue of engraved plates depicting Jean Baptiste Joseph Wicar’s drawings of treasures from the galleries of Florence. The Parisian publisher (?) Lacombe was issuing plates in serial parts for his "Tableaux, statues, bas-reliefs et camees de la Galerie de Florence et du Palais Pitti" between 1789 and 1814. This advertisement may have been for this French publication, or a projected English edition of which there is no trace in library catalogues.

Having described the subjects, the publishers note that they will publish only four numbers in the first year "conscious of all the Obstacles that may impede the Publication of a Work which they propose to give in a most perfect Manner", though they state that three have already been printed.

Though this copy has had the form of subscription torn off and submitted, it seems that the number of subscriptions failed to warrant publication. The place of the opening exhibition bas been altered in contemporary manuscript from 41 St James's Street to 81 Pall Mall. The advertisement was printed in approximately 1800.
