Biographical / Historical
The Spring Fair, or "3400 On Stage," is an annual Hopkins tradition which began in 1972. Usually held in April, the Spring Fair is open to the entire Baltimore community. There are many food and craft booths, as well as outdoor entertainment which runs through the three days of the Fair. Student groups staff food booths to raise money for their activities; neighborhood political and social action groups promote their causes; and crafts people demonstrate and sell their products. The Fair usually has a theme, such as Western, Safari, Renaissance, 1920s or Colonial. Planned and coordinated by undergraduates, the Spring Fair occupies a position alongside the numerous neighborhood and ethnic fairs which take place throughout Baltimore in the spring and summer months.
