Lecture 1, Pierce, "A General Survey of the Question of How Insects Can Carry or Cause Disease", 1918 May 20

 Item — Box: BW-20

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

This collection is comprised of a folder of typed and mimeographed minutes, lecture notes and reports all produced for a class on the Entomology of Disease, Hygeine and Sanitation. These items are arranged roughly in chronological order; they are numbered 1-409 and remain in original order. The lecture notes are incomplete. Lectures 2-9 (pgs. 14-142) are missing, as well as lectures 11, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, 21, 26 and 28. The remaining lectures, minutes and reports provide an outline of the weekly class structure and topics. This small collection paints a vivid picture of sanitary conditions in both civilian and military areas in the early 20th century, as well as a glimpse into the research and practical applications of entomological studies at the time.
