Peace sign stickers and buttons, circa 1960s
Scope and Contents
These folder and artifact tray compartments contain peace movement ephemera from the 1960s.
The folder contents include four peace stickers. Three stickers show a peace sign with the text "peace" underneath it. The fourth sticker shows a modified US flag with a peace sign where the stars would normally be.
The peace buttons in the artifact tray are described as follows:
1. A blue and white peace button (box 2, item 9)
2. A red and white peace button (box 2, item 10)
3. A yellow button with a red peace sign surrounded by an intricate red swirling design (box 2, item 11)
4. A button with a peace sign and irises in green against a black background (box 2, item 12)
5. A pink "Pooh for Peace" button with Winnie the Pooh holding a balloon with a peace sign on it (box 2, item 13)
6. A button with a stylized white peace dove (shaped a bit like a spiral shell or horn) holding an olive branch against a blue background (box 2, item 14)
7. A button with a stylized white peace dove against a blue background (box 2, item 15)
8. A purple and white Chi Rho Pax button, with the letters Alpha and Omega to either side of the Chi Rho in the center of the button, with the word Pax beneath the Chi Rho symbol (box 2, item 16)
9. A hot pink smiley face button (box 3, item 3)

Stickers and blue and white peace button were donated by an eBay seller in March 2024. 8 other peace buttons were purchased from eBay in July 2024.
