The Janney-White family papers primarily contain material related to Richard Janney White (1867-1929), his parents Jane Janney and Francis White (1825-1904), and their immediate and extended families. This includes correspondence between family members, photographs, Richard Janney White and Janet MacLaren's marriage announcement, photocopies of family trees, etc. A large amount of material comes from or relates to Janet Halstead MacLaren White (Richard Janney White's wife) and her extended family. This includes travel diaries and correspondence with Janet's aunt, Mary Halstead, correspondence with Janet's mother, Esther Halstead MacLaren, and photographs of several of her aunts, uncles, and cousins. The collection mostly dates from the mid-to-late 19th and early 20th centuries, though there is one document from 1796, a stock share from the Bank of Alexandria, Virginia.
