Scope and Contents

A limited edition print measuring 20 x 10 cm created in 1999, consisting of an photographic image (in the background) of an oil lamp and feather pen, printed in duotone shades of brown and black. Printed in the foreground is a brief passage from Alice Walker's The Color Purple: "I'm pore, I'm black, I may be ugly and can't cook, a voice say to everything listening. But I'm here. Celie." The image is signed by Alice Walker in gold ink and numbered seventeen out of forty-nine editions made. The print is contained in a brown, faux leather folder, stamped in gold, which reads “Limited Edition from ‘The Color Purple’ by Alice Walker.” Accompanying the print is a folder with embossed seal of Parchment Gallery Graphics, in which more information about the print is provided from the publisher.
