Immediate Source of Acquisition

This collection was donated to the University from the estate of John Work Garrett.

There are very few indications of the origins of the collection or even how it came to reside at Evergreen, and the variety of maps, ranging from topographical maps to tourist guides to real estate plans, suggests no coherent theme to the collection. There is only one inscription of a name, E. N. Warder, who could be a relative of Alice Warder Garrett, wife of John Work Garrett.
