Scope and Contents

Digital transfer of two 78-rpm records. Disc 1 contains a recording for WBAL of Bornschein conducting the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in a 1943 performance of his symphonic poem "The Earth Sings," inspired by Sherwood Gardens in Baltimore. Additional works on the recording include "Moon over Taos," a synagogue service, "Joy" for orchestra, the cantata "Zora," and several unidentified orchestral works.

Additional descriptive information on the containers of the discs is read by the digitization technician prior to the start of each disc.

Existence and Location of Originals

The original analog recordings can be found at the Library of Congress Recorded Sound Research Center as part of the Franz Bornschein collection (LWO 15571 R1 A1).
