Biographical Note

The writer who signs himself "Rustic," traveled from Wilmington to Elkton, Delaware by stage, then by steamboat to Baltimore, Maryland.

Upon his arrival in Baltimore, "Rustic" begins a tour of the attractions of the city. He comments upon the layout of the city and its streets, the market, Jones' Falls, and Fells Point.
