Congratulations - Outgoing 1964 - 1966

 File — Container: 41

Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

In Series 6: Issue Mail are letters from Long's constituents that both praised and condemned his position on issues. In other letters are opinions, suggestions, requests, advice, and recommendations. His offices grouped most of the correspondence under subject headings such as Education and Labor; Foreign Affairs; Social Security; Post Office and Civil Service; and Environment. Other folders contain letters dealing with concerns during a specific period - civil unrest in the cities in 1968, the Nixon administration in 1973, Vietnam (1968-1969). The series is arranged chronologically and then alphabetically by subject in Boxes 41 to 48. Each folder contains a selection of constituent letters on a particular subject, most with a response from Congressman Long.
