Lester S. Levy was well-known in the Baltimore area as an enthusiastic lecturer on the history and content of his sheet music collection. He was often invited to speak at the Maryland Historical Society and to other community groups and associations. He was a favorite guest with the Friends of the Library, The Johns Hopkins University. In Series 2: Speeches are examples of Levy's presentations locally as well as to groups in Chicago and Philadelphia. The speeches are filed beginning with those presented in the 1980s to the earlier speeches of the 1940s. Topics of his talks include "Young America's Music," "The Gilded Age," "Music of the Confederacy," and "Nostalgia Set to Music."
