Scope and Contents note

In Series 1 are letters relating to Levy's acquisition of the sheet music collection as well as his wide-ranging interest in the history of American popular music. The letters are arranged alphabetically by correspondent and/or associations. There is correspondence between Levy and musicologists including Harvey Dichter, Foster Hall, James J. Fuld, Joseph Muller, and Elliott Shapiro. Levy also corresponded with musicians Irving Berlin, Arthur Fiedler, Ira Gershwin, Rosa Ponselle, and Richard Rodgers. Other correspondence relates to research requests.
