Scope and Contents
Second draft, 8/10/79. Based on Original Story by Richard Pryor Second Draft Screenplay by Roger L. Simon and Lonne Elder, III. Studio-generated mimeograph, in printed studio wrappers, 109 pp. Family picture about an ex-con (Richard Pryor) and a schoolteacher (Cicely Tyson) guiding a group of emotionally disturbed schoolchildren across the country. The film was significantly altered prior to its 1981 release. Lonne Elder III was the first African American writer to be nominated for a Best Screenplay Oscar.
