New Building, Computer Facilities, 1961-1964

 File — Container: 6, Folder: 6

Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series:

Subseries 6, John Berthel, primarily spans the period 1950 to 1975, although some material as late as 1987 is also present. These records are significantly more complete than those of the preceding Librarians. They document Library administrative organization, the role of the Library and its staff within the University (through correspondence with administrators, faculty, and university committees), and the Library's relationship with national organizations such as the National Science Foundation and the American Association of Research Libraries. Berthel's records also include a detailed account of the planning and construction of the New Building (1957-1964), which was later named for President Milton S. Eisenhower. The records include correspondence concerning architects, fundraising, faculty input, computer facilities, statistics, drawings and progress reports.
