Student Handbooks, 1889-1986
Scope and Contents note
Series 3 consists of the Student Handbooks, 1889-1986. Published annually since 1889, the Handbook is distributed to all Hopkins students, informing them of activities and services available in and around Hopkins. The earlier editions also included rules pertaining to the conduct of freshmen on campus. While the series is fairly complete, there are gaps for the years 1912/13, 1913/14, 1916/17-1918/19, 1944/45-1945/46 (not published due to the war), and 1957/58. The Handbooks are located in document cases, filed in chronological order.
In 1994, the information disseminated in the Handbook was incorporated into a publication called Compendium, which also included maps, advertisements, policy statements, and information previously published in the Undergraduate Academic Manual. Copies of Compendium can be found in RG.10.030, the Johns Hopkins University publications collection.
