Scope and Contents note
Series 1, Event Files, 1947-1991 is divided into two subseries.
Subseries 1, Event Files, 1945-1978, consists of correspondence, event information, publicity, pictures, and records from events run by the Special Events Office from the years 1945-1978, when the office was still relatively brand new. Some of the highlights from these years are the Wednesday Noon Series, the various lectures, cultural programs, Commencements and Commemoration Day, the centennial of the university, President Steven Muller's induction as president, and much more.
Series 1, Subseries 2, 1974-1991, consists of correspondence, event information, publicity, pictures, and records from events run by the Special Events Office from the years 1974-1991. Much of the events from the earlier years, such as the lecture series, the informal Wednesday Noon Series, etc. are continued in these years. The highlights include files on the planning of Commencement and Commemoration, the centennial of the medical school, Renowned speakers who lectured at Hopkins, entertaining and educational cultural programs and events, science fairs, educational trips and concerts.
